What is a Warrant Canary?
A warrant canary is a transparency mechanism used by privacy-focused services. Because some government orders (like National Security Letters) come with gag orders that legally prohibit disclosure, we use this page to proactively state that no such orders have been received. If any of the above statements disappear or this page stops being updated, that absence of information itself signals to our users that something has changed — without us violating any legal order. It's our commitment to you, even when the law might silence us.
